If you are waiting for your new 4G LTE iPad Mini to arrive, it may have taken a detour in the past couple days according to the NY Post. There are reports that late Monday evening just before midnight, crooks in a white tractor drove off with two pallets (3,600) iPad Minis that just arrived from China. This is believed to be an inside job that was cut short as three other pallets were left behind by the thieves.

It is suggested that the JFK iPad thieves were caught in the middle of the job when a worker challenged the loading of the shipment on a white tractor trailer.

Sources believe someone let them into the area and then let them out after they grabbed the iPads. After nabbing about 3,600 of the minis that were being shipped by a company called Cargo Airport Services, which said the iPads had just arrived from China and were destined for locations around the US.

It is interesting that the the iPad robbery happened at the same cargo building that was the site of the 1978 Lufthansa heist featured in “GoodFellas”
